  • papules,
  • nodules,
  • etc.

From visibly dirty but not so painful blackheads to hidden large painful pus containing cysts, acne has all these effects associated with its name. But are these easily treatable? Let’s find out.

What is Acne and What Causes It?

Acne is a condition that occurs when hair follicles get clogged with oil and dead skin cells. It is very common mostly among teens and young adults.

According to reports, around 85% of the US population hears their doors knocking with acne when they hit puberty. Most of the time it is not so serious and can be treated at home but every treatment requires a listing of its causes so as to correct it from its roots.

Causes of Acne

Causes of Acne:

  • Sinusitis- It is a disease associated with sinuses. When the tissues surrounding the sinuses( hollow cavities in the face) become inflamed and are filled with mucus, this affects our breathing. Our nose is not able to kill the bacteria inside resulting in the development of acne in our body.
  • Hormonal changes- Most individuals face acne when they hit puberty. Due to the secretion of Androgens, the sebaceous glands tend to enlarge resulting in excess secretion of oil which doesn’t find any route to move deposits on the skin. Most girls experience acne during their menstrual cycles because of a lack of sleep and relaxation.
  • Poor nutrition- Intake of excess amounts of junk food also affects the body cycle.
  • Hygiene of elementary canal- If an individual faces a problem of irregular cleaning of bowels that is constipation, there are more chances of its effects being shown externally on our skin.
  • Dandruff- Though it is quite surprising that dandruff can be one of the causes of acne, but it's true. If you are going through acne take a look at your head. There is a possible chance of you having dandruff.

As much as it’s important to state the causes of acne, it’s also necessary to state the misconceptions related to acne.

Many times acne is treatable very easily but following the misconceptions, it reaches a stage where it becomes necessary to consult a doctor in order to get rid of it. Therefore it is our duty to erase these misconceptions of our minds.

Misconceptions related to acne

  • Washing your face multiple times a day- Contrary to our belief, it may trigger irritation.
  • Popping pimples habitually- This forces infection to go deeper into the skin.
  • Not moisturizing skin thinking it may increase oiliness- Even oily skin needs moisturizers.
  • Using too many treatment products at the same time- Too many medical activities can increase acne
  • Not using sunscreen- Unprotected sun exposure can increase acne

Erasing off these misconceptions, acne can be uprooted very easily from its roots with the help of natural ingredients that are easily available in our homes.
