Hair Phases
Anagen Stage
- The hair follicles grow in this stage.
- This stage usually lasts about 2-6 years.
According to Livestrong,
"During the anagen phase, your primary hair cells divide every 24 hours. Hair in this phase of development grows about 0.35 millimeters daily. Over the course of a 30-day month, this yields approximately a 0.4-inch growth. This phase of growth lasts for two to six years."
Catagen Stage
- This is the intermediate stage of hair growth.
- The hair follicles prepare to rest in this stage.
- This stage usually lasts 1-2 weeks.
Telogen Stage
- The hair rest and sheds in this stage.
- This stage usually lasts 3-4 months.
When the scalp is in an unhealthy condition, the hair will stay in the telogen stage longer. That is not a good thing.
According to Nutrafol,
"This is known as Telogen Effluviam and results in severe daily shedding for long periods. So make sure to nourish your scalp by eating a healthy diet, practicing stress management, and getting plenty of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and substances such as essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein), natural vasodilators and plant-based adaptogens."

Proper Nutrition And A Healthy Body
Eating healthy is a must, in order to have healthy hair. Make sure your follicles are getting the right nutrition to help enable hair growth. Have you ever noticed your hair shedding after you have been sick and not able to eat? Well, that can come from a lack of the correct vitamins and the illness.
Proper Hair Care
You should take the proper amount of time to find the right hair care product for your hair type. Just because your friend uses a product and it works for her, doesn't automatically mean it's right for your hair type.
There will be some trial and error when seeking hair care products that give you the right moisture for you, but when you find the product for your hair, make sure to keep up to date on if the company changes any ingredients in that product.
Watch to see if it still works well with your tresses, or if that ingredient doesn't blend with your hair as well. If not, avoid things with that ingredient unless you buy a small amount to try.
Growing hair long and healthy is possible with a healthy body, proper hair care, and proper nutrition. Remember to keep your hair and body healthy with the proper nutrition and hair care plan.
